Visit The Porlamar Lighthouse on Isla Margarita

The Porlamar Lighthouse, also known as El Faro de la Puntilla, is located east of Calle la Marina on the waterfront of Porlamar. This octagonal masonry tower, painted with pink and white horizontal bands has been located here since 1896.

Francisco Narvaez’s Contemporary Art Museum Is a Must See Site



Located in the heart of downtown Porlamar on Isla Margarita, the home to Caracola Beach and Spa Resort, you will find Francisco Narvaez’s Contemporary Art Museum. This museum was opened in 1979 to honor Francisco Narvaez’s work, who was known as one of the greatest Margaritan sculptors.

The museum contains a collection of oil paintings and wood, stone, and bronze sculptures created by Narvaez during time spent in Caracas, Paris, and Italy. You will find contemporary works by other artists here as well.

Admission to the museum is free.

When visiting Caracola Beach and Spa Resort, guests should be sure to check out The Diocesan Museum.

The Diocesan Museum is located next to the La Virgin Del Valle Church, showcasing a diversity of offerings granted by the faithful devotes of the Virgin.
Here guests can admire all the offerings from the parishioners, the dresses of the Virgin, objects that belong to the church, and paintings where numerous scenes depict the Virgin Mary and her miracles.

The museum is open from 9.00 a.m. to 12 p.m., and from 2.00 p.m. until 5.00 p.m.

Visit Las Marites Lagoon Near Caracola Beach and Spa Resort

Laguna Las Marites is a lovely lagoon that is located 12 kilometers from Porlamar and is the smaller sister of the Laguna la Restinga.

Laguna Las Marites is a 900 hectare, shallow lagoon with numerous natural channels through mangroves and is permanently connected to the sea. Near the water you will find pelicans, herons, and other exotic birds in their ideal biosphere. On land you will find predominantly desert vegetation, including a variety of different cacti, birds, and lizards.

The Laguna Las Marites covers approximately 3700 hectares of spectacular scenery.
The Laguna is ideal for water-skiing, fishing, and boating, as well as, bird watching and exploring.

Isla Margarita’s New Market of Los Conejeros

When visiting Caracola Beach and Spa Resort, spend some time at the New Market of Los Conejeros. This market is a huge shopper’s destination featuring both food and apparel within hundreds of small stalls.

On the eastern end of the market visitors will find T-shirts, shorts, towels, swimsuits, and sandals, among many other clothing items that are cheaper here than in the stores. On the western end, visitors will find a lively center for fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry, fish, and dry goods.

New Market of Los Conejeros is located on the northwestern border of Porlamar near the corner of Avenida 4 de Mayo and Avenida Santiago Mariño.
